Coffee Strengths
|
The strength of a coffee is mainly determined by a how long the beans are roasted for. The roaster usually operates at around 180°C and 280°C, the green beans are placed in the drum of the roaster for a period of time from 2mins to sometimes over 30mins. The roasters are large horizontal units that tumble the green beans in a drum of heat that roasts the beans. Making sure the heat of the roaster is accurate for the bean, and the length of time the beans are roasted for takes a very experienced roaster (luckily our roasters have been roasting for many years). |
Mild Coffee
Our mild coffee strength will be roasted for about
seven minutes, after this amount of time roasting, the
beans will double in size and pop in the roaster. Mild
coffee is ideal for making everyday coffee using a
filter machine or a cafetiere. Coffee being roasted in
this way is the popular method in the world. The
strength of the roast depends on the type of the bean
used; we have tested all of our beans to make sure we
deliver the very best taste and customer satisfaction.
If you are looking for an enjoyable mild coffee we would
highly recommend the Kenya
Peaberry, perfectly roasted using the wonderful,
fuller in taste bigger beans. Enjoy!

Medium Coffee
Our medium coffee strength beans will be roasted for around nine to eleven minutes. Once roasted the bean will appear dry and will be ready to deliver a sweeter taste than the mild roasted bean, with a fuller body and a wonderful aroma. Medium coffee is ideal for making everyday coffee using a filter machine or a cafetiere. If you are looking for a great medium coffee to try, we would recommend our
Blue Sumatra; a fantastic tasting mild coffee. Enjoy!

Strong Coffee
Our strong coffee can be roasted from anything from 12 minutes through to 14 minutes. The coffee bean will come out of the roaster slightly shiny and oily; the oil effect is the bean sugar starting to caramelise. The taste is very distinctive, almost a smokey taste, as if it has just come out of the roaster. Strong coffees are ideal for people looking to make espresso, or who just love strong tasting great coffee. We would recommend you try our
Director’s or our strong
Continental for the best coffee experience. Enjoy!
