A smooth, mild coffee with gentle, savoury hazelnut flavours that work wonderfully with sweet deserts after dinner, or make a great morning drink that won't be overly bitter. This rich coffee is excellent in all your favourite filtered drinks, and really comes alive when hot, creamy milk is added and the flavours blend.

We do not recommend the use of our flavoured coffees in Bean-to-Cup coffee machines, as some built-in grinders may struggle with the oil-based flavourings used. Manual grinders are generally better suited to these varieties.

Hazelnut coffee: the flavoured blend you need to try

If you’re really looking to mix up your regular coffee routine and experience new flavours, hazelnut flavoured coffee is the ultimate left-field option to try. You can find out more about this incredibly popular blend with our coffee drinkers guide below.

What is hazelnut coffee?

This type of coffee, also known as café noisette, combines the complex flavours of hazelnut with high-quality arabica coffee beans to produce a smooth brew with slightly savoury, nutty notes.

There are a few different ways to make this type of coffee. You can create rich hazelnut flavoured coffee at home by grinding roasted hazelnuts with your beans and brewing your coffee as usual. This method is quite time-consuming, and you must pay particular attention to the grind size of the nut-bean mix. You can also add hazelnut-flavoured syrup to your brewed arabica coffee, just as you would sugar or milk. However, this syrupy coffee is quite a calorific addition to your day, so perhaps not the best option for your daily go-to cup of joe.

By far, the easiest and most convenient way to experience a hazelnut blend is to buy pre-flavoured whole or ground coffee beans that have been roasted and prepared for you in advance. We do not recommend the use of flavoured coffees in Bean-to-Cup coffee machines, as some built-in grinders may struggle with the oil-based flavourings used. Manual grinders are generally better suited to these varieties.

How are hazelnut coffee beans made?

Like other flavoured coffees, this blend is usually made by adding natural or synthetic flavourings to roasted beans. Coating the beans, these coffee flavourings are pure aroma extracts, which give the beans their distinctive flavour and a slightly shiny gloss. Unless a 100% natural and organic process is used to create this flavoured blend, these beans do not contain the same potentially troublesome allergens found in nuts.

What is the best hazelnut coffee?

Freshly roasted to order, our rich hazelnut coffee blend is one of our most popular flavoured coffee products. This rich, mild roast has a subtle, savoury hazelnut flavour and silky smooth aftertaste, which comes alive when you add milk to your brew. This blend is a perfect choice to accompany a sweet after-dinner dessert or for those who love a morning cup of coffee that isn’t too bitter.

Expertly roasted in small batches, you can also choose to order whole bean coffee or ground coffee for a wide range of popular brewing methods such as cafetiere and filter devices.

What does hazelnut coffee taste like?

Now you’ve heard us describe our 100% arabica blend, here’s what our latest customer reviews have to say about our rich hazelnut roast:

“I've found it difficult to find hazelnut coffees in this country which are as good as those I can find in Italy. But this absolutely competes: it strikes the perfect balance of hazelnut flavour, without obscuring the flavour of the coffee.” Marion S. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“The hazelnut flavour is rich and distinctive. Guests always ask about it and express their delight.” Thomas R. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Extremely fresh roasted beans that make a smooth coffee with a light hazelnut aftertaste. They smell amazing. I stood in the kitchen just smelling the bag.” Katie A. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

FAQs

Can you drink hazelnut coffees if you have a nut allergy? Only 1% of the UK’s hazelnut flavoured coffee products are made using organic, all-natural processes which result in a roast containing the same allergens found in hazelnuts. Therefore, it is unlikely that you will experience a hazelnut flavoured coffee allergy from these nut-flavoured coffee items. If you have a nut allergy, however, you should always check the product information carefully and consult a medical professional before adding new products to your diet.

How many calories does hazelnut flavoured coffee have? If you take your hazelnut brew black and do not add milk or sugar, you’ll be consuming the exact same quantity of calories as a regular cup of arabica coffee, around five calories per cup.

Are hazelnut coffees suitable for vegetarians? As long as you don’t add milk, flavoured coffees such as hazelnut are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Are hazelnut coffees healthy? If you’re worried about any hidden hazelnut flavoured coffee nutrition facts, rest assured that this type of roast has no more sugar content or calories per cup than regular coffee. You also receive all the same health benefits as drinking your usual 100% arabica coffee. If tasting coffee black isn't your preference, please note that if you add any quantity of milk or add sugar or sweetener, then this will change your drink's nutritional values. Although chemicals are used to create the coffee flavourings which are added to these arabica beans, they are not harmful and are entirely safe to consume.
