Kivu, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo's mountainous region near Lake Kivu, is a region characterised by lush vegetation and fertile, volcanic soil that is ideal for the production of fine Arabica coffee beans. Coffee plantations in the Kivu region, which lies at the high point of the East African Rift Valley, also benefit from mild temperatures of 66 degrees F on average and high altitudes that extend the growing seasons, allowing beans to mature and ripen to their fullest before being harvested. Our mild Kivu coffee has a distinct and complex fruity flavour that lingers on the tongue, and unique aromas that you won't find in any other beans, and it is ideal for filter or cafetiere use when preparing all your favourite drinks.

Great coffee

Wanted a high altitude single bean coffee and found Kivu Noir coffee. This is a good bitter coffee that hits the spot in a morning
I've had it for a few months now and would certainly recommend.
Great service from Coffee Direct.

Kivu Coffee

This was my first order from Coffee Direct - my Kivu beans arrived by return of post, excellent! This horribly war-torn area deserves support and Coffee Direct was the only supplier I could find who stocked beans from the Congo and delivered in the UK. I'm not sure if these beans are Fairtrade or not, however.
I would definitely buy these Kivu coffee beans again. The coffee is very rich and smooth, without any bitterness at all. A lovely flavorfull coffee quite different from other Arabica beans, which usually have a 'burnt' or bitter taste to one degree or another.
