Ideal for espresso, our strong Old Brown Java beans are aged as green beans for at least two years before being roasted, giving the coffee a heavier body and a powerful flavour, but very little acidity. The process of ageing beans is popular among many Javanese coffee producers and can last for as long as three years, during which green beans may be 'monsooned' by being exposed to the warm, moist air of the rainy seasons. As the green beans age they often begin to turn to a light brown colour, and the longer they are aged the more flavour they gain.

All of our coffees stay fresh unopened for up to 9 months. Our teas stay fresh unopened for up to 12 months.
Customers praised this strong, rich coffee with "low acidity" and "smooth" taste, noting "chocolatey" and "earthy" flavor profiles. Many described it as their "favourite" with "excellent body" perfect for espresso or flat whites. However, some found the beans "too oily," causing grinder issues, and a few felt it was "too intense" for everyday drinking or preferred other blends.
My first purchases from Coffee-Direct and it is a positive one. A decent selection of beans at reasonable prices and delivered in a timely fashion. Would ideally prefer to have available weights in 500g and 1kg increments as I normally purchase 2kg at any one time so 2.5kg is a bit of a stretch. However, there is nothing to dislike here so are happy to continue purchasing if prices remain attractive.

Excellent body, low acidity. I love Monsoon Malabar and this reminds me a little of that. Strong yet not overpowering and works well as either espresso or added to steamed milk, I have bought this several times.

Absolute staple for the coffee cupboard. Sadly, many sellers are so keen on pushing exotic and weird new blends, they forget the basics. Old Brown Java seems hard to locate. Thank goodness for Coffee Direct :heart:️

It's 'ok' but that's it. The creamy head isn't impressive, nor does it last. It's a thin looking & thin to taste coffee I would say.

Good strong tasting coffee
Rich taste, and slightly heavy on a balance flavour. One of the better roasts for me.
This has a much smoother, deeper flavour with less acidity than similarly named beans from a well known supplier with a high-street presence.
The only downside is that I can't enjoy other coffees anywhere near as much and have taken to only drinking coffee at home.
Only tried with espresso so far, but prefer it best as a “short” long black. A rich, somewhat earthy taste with low acidity. I like to drink different coffees during the day, but always look forward to this one.

I selected Old Brown Java which is an excellent, rich, and smooth coffee and the customer experience was just as smooth with the bonus of a quick delivery too. This is the first time I've used Coffee Direct but I'll certainly be using them again when my 5kg supply runs out, and that won't be too long.

Beautifully blended flavour, ideal for expresso, no acidic aftertaste, chocolate overtones.
Only down side is I have found the bean oily, which in turn sometimes prevents the beans flowing unobstructed into the grinder.
