It's almost the end of they day and all you need is a little boost to get you through that last tiny bit of work. That's where our strong Perk-U-Later blend can help. The blend's rich, smooth and fruity flavours are reminiscent of some of our favourite breakfast coffees, but the delicious chocolate and smokey tastes that gradually reveal themselves as you drink make Perk-U-Later a more complex and savoury choice, which is ideal for drinking later in the day.
Smooth Mountain is a blend of Colombian and Costa Rican beans, picked specifically from high, mountainous areas that benefit the most from high altitudes, moist, temperate climates and good soil, all of which allow the beans to mature slower than other varieties, resulting in a fuller flavour. In Costa Rica, for example, the finest coffee is typically grown at altitudes of 1,200 to 1,700 metres, but can go as high as 2,000 metres and still enjoy excellent flavours. While in Colombia, coffees mostly benefit in climates experienced between 900 and 1,980 meters, where beans take on a rich aroma and a luxurious depth of flavour.
The perfect solution to get you going at the start of the week, our Monday Morning combines three high quality beans, including an excellent Kenyan coffee, into a blend that is guaranteed to perk you up first thing. Kenyan arabica beans, grown in excellent soils, are renowned for their intense flavours and produce wonderfully full-bodied coffees, such as this terrific blend. Monday Morning is smooth and mild, with a lovely fruity taste that will gently wake you, before the more intense Kenyan bean gives you a welcome burst of energy with which to start the day.
This mild blend takes care of all your coffee needs and can be enjoyed at any time of day, making beautiful drinks by percolator, filter and cafetiere and giving you all the choices of how you'll prepare it, whether you prefer full-bodied Americano, smooth latte or indulgent cappuccino. Our Regency Blend is roasted on order and immediately vacuum sealed to keep in the freshness and aromas, providing you with the most luxurious coffee possible upon arrival.
Our Dark Colombian is a slightly stronger coffee than our Colombian Med, which makes it more versatile as it is suitable for cafetiere use, filter coffees and intense espressos. Again using Medellin Excelso, from Colombia's Cordillera Central in the Andes, this excellent coffee really does display some of the finer qualities of the renowned Colombian coffee bean: a rich aroma, luxurious depth and sweet flavours of fruit and chocolate. These Colombian beans benefit from being grown in an area that is known as the 'tierra templada', the Colombian term for the climatic zone located between 900 and 1,980 meters that provides ideal growing conditions. The conditions in the tierra templada, or 'temperate land' result in a robust bean that gives a full-bodied coffee and an intense espresso, topped off with a hint of sharp acidity.
Sourced from selected Costa Rican estates, where beans are grown more than 2,000 metres above sea level for the benefits of a high altitude, this mild coffee is the perfect choice for a smooth start to the day. The high altitudes allow the beans to mature slower than other varieties, resulting in a fuller flavour, and an increased acidity that is not too overbearing, meaning that you can enjoy this coffee straight from the cafetiere at breakfast. The maturing process creates a strictly hard bean (SHB), which is a key feature in top quality Arabica coffees that are known for the rich, well-rounded flavours you'll find in our Costa Rica. If you need that extra kick first thing in the day then a small, strong cup of this will do the trick, and it won't leave behind the more acidic tastes of an espresso.
