Ethiopian coffee beans grown in the Harar, Sidamo, Yirgacheffe, or Limu regions each reveal distinct, yet uniformly excellent flavours and aromas. Our smooth Ethiopian Sidamo coffee is made from the finest Arabica beans, grown exclusively in the Sidamo Province. One of the most famous origin tales of the coffee suggests that a local innam at a Sidamo monastery threw these red coffee berries upon a fire, at which point their roasting gave off such a wonderful smell that they were raked off and boiled in water, giving birth to this much-loved coffee. These small, thin, greyish beans are highly valued for their intense flavours of spice and wine, with hints of chocolate, while the deep, floral aromas, mild strength and bright, crisp acidity make them ideal for delicious filter coffees at any time of the day. Without going all Platonic with Ur-coffee etc, this Sidamo taste is the essence of what coffee is at base. We can compare all the others with this as the 'sine qua non'.

I've been buying coffee from Coffee Direct for years now. Their service is always great, and I've had some beautiful coffees over the years. The Sidamo is the latest of them. When I first opened the pack I smelled it, as I always do, and it was delicious, smooth, with hints of chocolate. I brew using just the one-cup method with a filter in a gadget that I place on the top of my coffee cup.
The coffee was gorgeous. The taste was smooth, and mellow. Perfect as an after-dinner drink. I would certainly buy it again, and the only place I ever buy my coffee is Coffee Direct. I would recommend them to anyone.

I love receiving a bag of Ethiopia Sidamo just as I am running out. I especially like that I can change my arrival date according to how much coffee I have been drinking so I never run out nor do I have coffee arriving before it is needed. Excellent!

initially I found this one a little bitter for my taste but after a few days I found I grew to like it. It has a strong flavour, with some bitterness, but I got used to this and would say this is a coffee worth trying if you haven't tried it before
