Mild and Mellow - Bugishu Coffee

Pack of Bugishu CoffeeBugishu Coffee is a great choice for those who prefer a milder cup without having to compromise on flavour. This delicious coffee is sourced from regions of North East Uganda, that include the western slopes of East Africa’s oldest, extinct volcano, Mount Elgon, where the finest Arabica beans grow. The complex flavours of Bugishu Coffee are characteristic of the type of exotic coffees this part of Africa is renowned for, revealing wonderful ripe berry and floral notes, with a smooth, chocolatey finish. It is a light to medium bodied coffee, with a clean taste, slight acidity, and distinctive aroma.

Coffee is Uganda’s biggest export crop, and is mostly cultivated on smallholder farms. The majority of coffee produced there is of the Robusta variety, the trees being native to the country. The Arabica variety wasn’t introduced until 1900. Coffee plants benefit from a perfect balance of sunshine, ample rainfall, and cool temperatures in the higher altitudes, that enable them to develop slowly, enriching the quality of the beans. Coffee cherries are harvested at various times of year, depending on the altitude they are grown, so supply is constant.

Bugishu Coffee is just one of over 100 wonderful coffees from around the world, including rare and exclusive varieties such as Kopi Luwak and Blue Mountain Jamaica, that Coffee-Direct can deliver directly to your door. We roast to order, so your coffee will always arrive in the freshest condition possible, and offer a range of grind options as well as whole beans.
